In 2005 a new course was introduced. The race begins on Dead Horse State Park Overlook.

The Marathon will be limited to a small number of runners. The course begins at an elevation of approximately 6100' and progresses along an easy downhill, to about 3950' near the Colorado River. Bus rides available from the Marathon's end back to town.
