We
can't say enough about just
how important it is to stay
well-hydrated in the Moab
climate, no matter what activity
you choose. Especially for
bikers and hikers, on a hot
day you can drink half a gallon
(2 L) of water over a couple
of hours and still be dangerously
dehydrated. That’s a
good reason to stop by one
of the local bike shops. The
staff are knowlegeable cyclists
who can advise you on the
best trail for your skill
level. They might also tell
you to carry more water -
at least one gallon (4L) per
person. Even if you have leftover
water, just imagine what could
have happened if an unforeseen
problem left you walking ten
miles. Besides, extra water
can be used to clean a few
rocks or wet a bandana to
cool your brow.
Please
educate yourself on basic
safety, and rules of the trail
before embarking on any outdoor
activity. Remember to take
PLENTY of water and sunscreen,
and a spare tube or two.
